Our Story
There was folk music playing when Ben and Anya first met. No, like, literally, people were playing guitars on couches at the house party where Anya started chatting to Ben at the top of a staircase in 2013. And it would be music that brought them together again three years later on Whiff and Whim Tap Night. Ben was about to fly to Georgia to start hiking the Appalachian Trail, and Anya told him about her summer camp, and the trips she had taken to the lakes and mountains of Maine that he would visit in just a few months.
When they returned to campus in the fall, Anya and Ben's shared singing calendar meant a lot of shared time. Whether it was outside concerts in New Haven and Cambridge, or on a snowy car ride home from Westchester, Ben and Anya just kept seeking out each other's company. They both thought they could keep things casual, but after seven seasons of the West Wing and dozens of plates of Rudy's fries, they were forced to admit that there was something decidedly un-casual happening here.
A trip to London over World Tour turned into visits to Anya's apartment in Cobble Hill, and by the time Covid took them to Ben's parents' house in New Haven, "BenAnya" were a unit. When they returned to Brooklyn together in 2021, they starting building a life together — folk music jams and Halloween parties at their apartment, bringing the house down at Montero's karaoke, and yearly trips to Vermont and Maine spent skiing, snowshoeing, paddling canoes, eating fried clams, and yes, playing a lot of folk music.
Now, Ben and Anya are so excited to replicate some of the places and activities that brought them together and to celebrate the start of this next phase with you!
